HD-MD4X1-4K-E 4x1 4K HDMI® Switcher. The Crestron® HD-MD4X1-4K-E is a simple to use, ultra high-definition signal switcher with four HDMI® inputs and one HDMI output. It handles Full HD 1080p, Ultra HD, 2K, and 4K video signals with support for HDCP, 3D, Deep Color, and high-bitrate 7.1 audio. Comcast 4k Box Audio Output. The HD-MD4x1-4K-E is an Ethernet-based ultra high-definition HDMI signal switcher with four HDMI® inputs and one HDMI output. The HD-MD4x1-4K-E supports full HD 1080p, Ultra HD, 2K, and 4K video signals with support for HDCP, 3D, Deep Color, and high-bit rate 7.1 audio.

Inputs

The HD-MD4x1-4K-E provides the following audio/video inputs:

  • Four (4) HDMI (labeled 1 through 4) inputs that support full HD 1080p, Ultra HD, 2K, and 4K video signals.

The HD-MD4x1-4K-E provides the following audio/video outputs:

Signal name and type

Description

Digital output: <Online>

Indicates that the device is online.

Digital outputs:

<Video_Detected_1_Fb> through <Video_Detected_4_Fb>

Indicates that video sync is detected at the HDMI IN input. The output remains high for as long as sync is detected.
High/1= Sync detected; Low/0 = No sync detected

Digital input: <Enable_Front_Panel_Lock>

Locks out the front panel on the rising edge of the input. This signifies that no AV routing can be done from the front panel.

High/1 (rising edge) = Lock front panel; Low/0 = No effect

Digital output: <Front_Panel_Lock_Fb>

Indicates that the front panel is locked. The output remains high for as long as the front panel is locked.

High/1 = Front panel locked; Low/0 = Front panel not locked

Digital input: <Disable_Front_Panel_Lock>

Unlocks the front panel on the rising edge of the input.

High/1 (rising edge) = Unlock front panel; Low/0 = No effect

Digital inputs:

<AutoMode_On>

Enables 'Auto' mode on the rising edge of the signal.

Auto-mode changes the input to the last detected input. It uses a “last-in” algorithm. For example, connect input 4; input 4 detected; route goes to input 4.

If multiple sources are connected at device start-up, video switching takes the following precedence:

  1. HDMI 1

  2. HDMI 2

  3. HDMI 3

  4. HDMI 4

High/1 = Enable 'Auto' mode; Low/0 = No effect.

Digital output: <AutoMode_On_Fb>

Indicates that 'Auto' mode is enabled.

High/1 = 'Auto' mode is enabled; Low/0 = 'Auto' mode is disabled

Digital input: <AutoMode_Off>

Disables 'Auto' mode.

High/1 = Disable 'Auto' mode; Low/0 = No effect

Digital output: <AutoMode_Off_Fb>

Indicates that 'Auto' mode is disabled.

High/1 = 'Auto' mode is disabled; Low/0 = 'Auto' mode is enabled

Analog input:<Video_Out>

Selects the video source to route to the corresponding video output.

Valid values range from 0d (no source) to 4d.

Analog output: <Video_Out_Fb>

Returns the video source.

Digital inputs:

<Input_1_HDCP_Support_On> through <Input_4_HDCP_Support_On>

Turn on support of HDCP on the input.

High/1 = Turns HDCP Support On; Low/0 = No effect

Digital outputs:

<Input_1_HDCP_Support_Fb> through <Input_4_HDCP_Support_Fb>

Indicates current HDCP support status.

High/1 = HDCP Support On; Low/0 = HDCP Support Off

Digital inputs:

<Input_1_HDCP_Support_Off> through <Input_4_HDCP_Support_Off>

Turn off support of HDCP on the input.

High/1 = Turns HDCP Support Off; Low/0 = No effect

Digital outputs:

<Input_1_HDCP_Active_Fb> through <Input_4_HDCP_Active_Fb>

Indicates the presence of HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection), which requires compatible players and displays. The output remains high for as long as HDCP is detected.

High/1 = HDCP detected; Low/0 = No HDCP detected

Analog output:

<Input_1_HDCP_State_Fb> through <Input_4_HDCP_State_Fb>

Reports the status of HDCP authentication, as follows:

0d = HDCP not required

55d = Unauthenticated

56d = Busy (authentication in progress)

57d = Authenticated

58d = Non-HDCP source

Serial outputs:

<Input_1_Name> through <Input_4_Name>

Specifies the name of the input.

The string can consist of a maximum of 32 characters (0-9, -, +, [, ], aA-zZ, and space).

Serial outputs:

<Input_1_Name_Fb> through <Input_4_Name_Fb>

Reports the name of the corresponding input.

Digital input: <Output_1_Enable>

Enables the Output port.

High/1 = Enable output port; Low/0 = no effect

Digital output: <Output_1_Enabled_Fb>

Returns if the Output is enabled.

High/1 = Output port enabled; Low/0 = Output port disabled

Digital input: <Output_1_Disable>

Disables the Output port.

High/1 = Disable output port; Low/0 = no effect

Digital input:<Output_1_Force_HDCP_Enable>

Forces HDCP encryption at the output on the rising edge of the input.

When enabled, the output will have HDCP encryption applied regardless of the HDCP state of the input signal, i.e., even if the source does not provide or require it.

High/1 (rising edge) = Force HDCP; Low/0 = No effect

Digital output:<Output_1_Force_HDCP_Enabled_Fb>

Indicates that the 'force HDCP' setting is enabled. The output remains high for as long as the setting is enabled.

High/1 = Force HDCP enabled; Low/0 = No effect

Digital input:<Output_1_Force_HDCP_Disable>

Disables the 'force HDCP' encryption setting at the output on the rising edge of the input.

When disabled (the default mode), HDCP encryption is only applied when the source requires it.

High/1 (rising edge) = Disable force HDCP; Low/0 = No effect

Digital output: <Output_1_Hotplug_Detected_Fb>

Indicates that a 'hot plug' has been detected. The output remains high for as long as the cable is connected.

High/1 = Hot plug detected; Low/0 = Hot plug NOT detected

Digital output: <Output_1_Disabled_By_HDCP_Fb>

Indicates that the output has been disabled as the result of a failure during HDCP authentication. This occurs when HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) is detected at the input, but the display or other loopback device is not HDCP compliant.

This also occurs when the maximum number of display devices that can be used with the video source (based on the application of keys and KSVs) has been exceeded.

High/1 = Output disabled by HDCP; Low/0 = Output not disabled by HCDP

Digital output: <Output_1_CEC_Error_Fb>

Indicates a CEC NACK (No ACK) error. This occurs when the connected CEC device fails to respond to a CEC command (with an ACK pulse).

The output remains high until the CEC command is sent successfully.

High/1 = CEC NACK error; Low/0 = CEC command successful

Analog output: <Output_1_Horizontal_Resolution_Fb>

Reports the horizontal resolution of the input source in pixels (1d = 1 pixel).

Reported values range from 0d to 4096d.

Analog output: <Output_1_Vertical_Resolution_Fb>

Reports the vertical resolution of the input source in lines (1d = 1 line).

Reported values range from 0d to 2160d.

Analog output: <Output_1_Frames_Per_Second_Fb>

Reports the frame rate of the input source in Hertz (1d = 1 Hz).

Reported values range from 0d (no refresh rate information available) to 600d.

Analog output: <Output_1_Aspect_Ratio_Fb>

Reports the aspect ratio of the input source, where: Aspect ratio = <Aspect_Ratio_fb>/100 : 1

Common values:

0d = No signal

125d = 5:4 aspect ratio

133d = 4:3 aspect ratio

160d = 16:10 aspect ratio

177d = 16:9 aspect ratio

Analog output: <Output_1_Deep_Color_Mode_Fb>

Reports the deep color depth as follows:

8d = 8-bit mode

10d = 10-bit mode

12d = 12-bit mode

Color depth is counted as the number of bits per color, per pixel, not total bits per (tri-color) pixel. Thus, 8-bit mode is sometimes referred to as '24-bit color'; 10-bit mode, as '30-bit color'; and 12-bit mode, as '36-bit color'.

Analog output: <Output_1_Color_Space_Mode_Fb>

Reports the color space mode, as follows:

0d = Auto

1d = Force RGB

2d = Force YCbCr

Analog output: <Output_1_HDCP_State_Fb>

Reports the status of HDCP authentication, as follows:

0d = HDCP not required

55d = Unauthenticated

56d = Busy (authentication in progress)

57d = Authenticated

58d = Non-HDCP source

Serial input: <Output_1_Name>

Specifies the name of the output.

The string can consist of a maximum of 32 characters (0-9, -, +, [, ], aA-zZ, and space).

Reports the name of the output.

Serial input: <Output_1_Transmit_CEC_Message>

Transmits the corresponding CEC-formatted string to the CEC-enabled source via the HDMI input.

Serial outputs: <Output_1_Receive_CEC_Message>

The CEC-formatted string received from the CEC-enabled source via the HDMI input.

<Output_1_Serial_Number_String_Fb>

The string of information about the device connected to the corresponding output, as parsed from the EDID.

If the device does not provide an EDID, the output will be an empty string.

The reported string format will be as follows:

Manufacturer = Text string that identifies the manufacturer of the device, up to four characters, e.g., 'CEI' for Crestron Electronics, Inc.

Name = Text string that identifies the model name/number, up to 14 characters.

Serial Number = Text string that reports the serial number, up to 14 characters.

Parameter: <Online Detect Interval>

The time interval that the control system will ping to check if the video switcher is online.

The interval can be set from 0s (online detection off) to 120s, adjustable in 15 second increments.

The communication status is reported by the <Online> output (when the interval is not set to 0s).

Parameter: <IP_ID>

Device's IP ID.

Parameter: <Server_Port>

Server port that the device is connected to.
